InspectWarden is mobile inspection and recordkeeping software for small fire-protection and life-safety contractors. It exists because the fieldwork is rarely the problem — the record of the fieldwork is.
Why we built it
A small contractor can service a building perfectly and still lose the argument four months later. The tag got painted over during a remodel. The photos are on a technician who has since left. The binder is in a truck that got traded in. Nothing was done wrong — there is just no way to show it.
The tools on offer tended to split into two camps: paper, which is fast in the field and useless afterwards, or enterprise platforms priced and configured for companies with a compliance department. Neither fits a shop with one to ten trucks.
So InspectWarden does one thing well: it captures the inspection where it happens, on a phone, and turns it into a record you can produce on demand — a report for the building owner, a tag on the device, and a history behind it that nobody can misplace.
What it does today
- A device register per building — tag number, type, location, serial, and dates.
- Checklists your company controls, per system type, editable as your process changes.
- Field capture that works without signal and syncs when you are back in range.
- Deficiencies with severity, notes, status, timestamp, and photos.
- A PDF inspection report with the photos embedded, ready before you leave the lot.
- Printable service tags that point at the full history.
- Re-inspection scheduling and reminders computed from the last visit.
How we think about it
The contractor is the one doing the hard part
Software does not inspect anything. A technician on a ladder in a hot kitchen does. Our job is to make the twenty seconds of recordkeeping after each device disappear into the work instead of piling up for later.
A record is only worth what it can prove
Every check is tied to one physical device, one person, and one timestamp, with photos attached where it matters. Not a spreadsheet row that could mean anything.
The building is the worst place to store history
Tags get painted over and binders walk off. Print the tag for the person standing there, and keep the history somewhere it cannot be lost or written over.
We do not tell you what the code says
InspectWarden does not make compliance determinations. Requirements and documentation expectations vary by jurisdiction and by the authority having jurisdiction. You know your AHJ; we keep the evidence tidy.
Small shops first
One-truck operations and small crews, not enterprise rollouts. If a feature needs a training week, it is the wrong feature.
